September Update

Good evening!

Over the past few months, a lot has happened! I'm incredibly thankful for all that the Lord has done to move this project forward. Here are a few things I'd like you to know:

We've Got a Name and a Logo
One of the first things you probably noticed when you opened this link is the name and logo for a church you're not familiar with. That's because it's ours! We've named our church Missio Dei because we desire that the leaders of this church and the members who join us be continually reminded that this body of believers does not exist for its own glory and its own mission, but for the glory and mission of Christ, who is the head of the body, the Church, and who holds preeminence over all things. (Col. 1:18) We believe that God has given us a mission to display His glory in Pittsburgh and around the world, a mission that calls us to die to ourselves and live for Christ. (Gal. 2:20)

We also want to thank Evan Treavelstead for the work he did on our logo. If you'd like to contract him, you can reach him at evantravelstead@gmail.com

We've Got a Web Presence
One of the things we are really proud of right now is our newly finished website. Check us out at www.missiodeicc.com to find our more about our plant, stay updated with our progress, join our launch team, or give financially. The website is formatted to work well on both computers and pones, so go check it out!

In addition, have also been working to develop a Facebook page and a Twitter account, which will go live September first. You can find those links below:

Twitter: @missio_deicc

We've Got New Team Members
Many of you already know that besides me, I will be planting with Cody Bockelkamp, a police officer with the Prince William County Police Department. In addition, over the past few months, Timothy Sutton and Vickee Mathews have joined as well. Timothy will be serving with our youth and coordinating discipleship within the plant, and Vickee will be heading up our children's ministry. We look forward to seeing how God will use them. If you would like to know more about joining our launch team, feel free to fill out our Launch Team Application on our website, and we'd love to talk to you more about that.

We've Got New Emails
While you are certainly welcome to continue using this email address, we have decided to get dedicated email addresses for the church plant. They are as follows:

General Questions: info@missiodeicc.com
Donald Files: donald@missiodeicc.com
Cody Bockelkamp: cody@missiodeicc.com
Tmothy Sutton: timothy@missiodeicc.com

We've Got a Prospectus
For those who are not familiar with a prospectus, it's an informational booklet that provides prospective team members or donors an opportunity to learn more about the church plant and how they can get involved. For your convenience, I have linked a PDF version of our prospectus below. Feel free to send it to anyone or print it. We also will be printing a generous amount of copies. If you'd like a copy, or a few copies, or a ton of copies, please let me know. I'd also love to have the opportunity to speak at your church or to your missions committee to talk about our plant in Pittsburgh.

Again, we'd like to thank Evan for his hard work designing the prospectus. We couldn't be happier with it.

The Future
Over the next several months, we will be attempting to contact each of you personally. I'd love the opportunity to talk to you personally about what God is doing in Pittsburgh. We will also continue recruiting for our core team. In addition, we are going to be filming a video soon. Keep a look out for it!

What Can I Do?
First and foremost, we would love for you to flood social media on September 1st with our website, Facebook page, and Twitter account. Please help us get the word out that day that Missio Dei Community Church is coming to Pittsburgh.

In addition, here are a few ways you can continue to get involved:

Pray
-          Pray for salvations in our city.
-          Pray for relationships to develop and flourish in our city.
-          Pray that Missio Dei would find favor with community leaders and other ministries and organizations working in the City

Partner
Join the launch team: As Missio Dei Community Church moves forward with its launch, move to Pittsburgh with us and leverage your career to join a church planting movement. We are praying that God would provide 30 committed adults from a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, and generational backgrounds for our Launch Team by Fall of 2018. If you are interested in being a part of the Missio Dei Launch Team, fill out the application on our website and we will be happy to discuss how you can get involved.

By becoming a partner church of Missio Dei Community Church, your mission becomes our mission.
-          Send short-term mission teams

“The Christian Church was designed from the first to be aggressive. It was not intended to remain stationary at any period, but to advance onward until its boundaries became commensurate with those of the world.”- Charles Spurgeon, British nineteenth-century preacher
