“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now”
One of the most difficult aspects of church planting is the need for bold faith as you step out into the unknown. It is one thing to feel confident in your own calling, but something entirely different as you depend on others to hear that same call and come alongside you in your work.
Praise be to God that many of you have come to walk beside us in this effort to plant a new church in Pittsburgh, PA. Your prayers and support provide us great encouragement. So, for that, we would like to say, “Thank you!”
Cody to be Assessed
On February 5-6, Cody will be assessed by the North American Mission Board during their Assessment Retreat. NAMB will use this assessment to determine if Cody and Missio Dei Community Church will be eligible for funding as a Send Network Planter. If Cody passes this assessment, this will open us up to a significant multi-year grant from NAMB. Please keep Cody and Jess in your prayers as they prepare for this assessment.
This Sunday will be an exciting time for the Missio Dei team. On January 21st, Pillar Church, our sending church will host a Missio Dei Vision Sunday for our team. Our team has been invited to share our vision for Missio Dei Community Church to the congregation of Pillar Church. In addition, this will be the first time that the elders of Pillar will give public affirmation of Missio Dei and our team.
We encourage everyone who can join us to do so this Sunday. This will be a great opportunity to meet our team and ask us questions. We will also provide information on an upcoming Vision Dinner and Vision Trip. You won’t want to miss this.
When: January 21, 2018 @ 10:30am
Where: Swans Creek Elementary School (17700 Wayside Dr, Dumfries, VA 22026)
An Update from Donald
By the grace of God, I had the opportunity to spend about a month and a half with family over the holiday season. During this time, I had the privilege to meet with several pastors, church leaders and individuals in the South as a part of developing partners. Despite sickness and a malfunctioning vehicle, I believe I was able to accomplish what I set out to during this time. Thank you for your prayers during my travels.
Donald hasn’t been the only one traveling. Cody and Jess have had the opportunity to travel back and forth to PA a few times over the holidays. During these meetings, Cody has had the opportunity to meet with potential supporting churches. We are incredibly thankful for the partners that God has provided Missio Dei.
In addition, Cody has been able to travel back to the Monroeville, our target community. We are excited about what God is doing in Monroeville and look forward to moving there as soon as possible to begin ministry there.
We have a few bits of exciting news related to Monroeville; however, we are keeping them under wraps for the moment. Look out for further information concerning Monroeville.
We need your help to raise the $175,000 for our first-year budget. Individual donors, like yourself, can make a huge difference. We are looking for 446 people who would be willing to give $20/month or a one-time donation of $240. Your donations will help us provide support for two full-time missionaries in Pittsburgh, support local and international mission trips, support church planting interns and apprentices, minister to our local community through sports camps, movie nights, and benevolence, and keep the lights and heat on in our facility. In short, your donations will help us plant a multi-ethnic, gospel-centered, multiplying church in Pittsburgh, PA.
